The 204N release is engineered to higher tolerances than a standard release and has a side pressure loading of 1000 kilos. Operates on 12v d.c. and is fail open. These releases can be used in conjunction with fire alarms in situations where loss of power to the release ensures that ingress and egress is possible.

The installation of powered gate automation is regulated by the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations which recognises a powered gate as machinery.
